Региони во Франција

Франција се дели на 18 региони (француски: régions), од кои 13 се матични Корзика, а 5 се прекуморски. Матичните региони (во кои спаѓа и островот Корзика) се делат на 2 до 13 департмани, додека пак прекуморските имаат по еден, па затоа се нарекуваат и „прекуморски департмани.

Поимот „регион“ е утврден со Законот за децентрализација од 2 март 1982 г. во кој се пропишува правниот статус на регионите. Во 2016 г. нивниот број е намален од 27 на 18 со спојување.

Улога

Регионите немаат законодавна автомонима, нити пак можат да донесуваат регулативи. Секој има свои давачки (со поголеми давачки добиваат помал дел буџет од државата) и имаат видни, но не баш големи буџети под управа на регионални совети со номинирани застапници од департманските собранија и главните општини во регионот.

Нивната главна правна задача е да градат и одржуваат средни училишта.

Освен овие правни должности, регионите имаат значителни дискрециони трошоци за инфракструктура (образование, јавен превоз, помош на универзитети и истражни тела, помош за претприемачи). Заради ова, претседателствувањето со еден богат регион е прилично високопрофилна функција.
